There were grand intentions to finish converting my old project pages from the knitting site that shall not be named, across to here. The perfectly consistent was the enemy of done and no amount of faffing around with blocks and using the WP tools (poorly) was going to help the manual process. It’s time to accept that project pages will not be exactly the same.
Additionally I didn’t stop crafting either; so there’s a healthy backlog of projects in Airtable that are ‘Bound off’ when they should be ‘All Done’ or at least ‘Drafted post’. There should be an onslaught of new posts soon where I’ll retain the important particulars for the top of the post and then add in pictures and other notes essentially as they were on the project page.
What I’ve been doing instead of crafting is exploring the rabbithole that is planning. I’ve had a paper journal/planner/record of my life since at least 2021. I have used them earlier but less consistently or primarily for work.
These days I have an entire stack of things that I’m keeping notes in and records of. It’s fun for me, a little bit silly, and very satisfying to access a tome quickly to find something rather than dig around on a computer or in my phone.
A planner stack?
Why have 1 when there’s many! The beauty of a range is that many tomes will be part of my 2026, 2027 and beyond stack. The annual every day planner will change but others will last for a significant amount of time; wherein lies the appeal.

What is for what purpose?
- Everyday Carry: Sterling Ink A5 Vertical Half Year bundle, 2025 common planner. Was my second purchase; I was so disappointed by the first purchase that I tried out a Sterling Ink a year early. The covers aren’t leather but sure do feel and act like it. I’m really happy with the layouts of everything so far.
- Leather cover for my everyday carry: purchased directly from Andrew Reeson leather at Toowoomba markets and embossed at time of purchase. Delighted to have a locally made cover that I’ll be using for a long time to come.
- Health Wealth record: using the Lime and Mortar mini weeks that I received in an advent box. I haven’t had a mini weeks format before and it’s working nicely for the few things I want to note in there, this one lives at home and rarely leaves the kitchen-dining area. Sticker was from Washigang and is a big mood.
- Reading Journal: The Quirky Cup Collective crimson reading journal was an impulse buy last year but not one I regret as I moved from Goodreads to The Storygraph I realised I liked having my TBR and reading history not entirely dependent on an app. Plus it’s gorgeous.
- Long Term Collections: Archer and Olive In the Attic A5 dot grid notebook purchased from Washigang. It’s my first go at a LTC and I’ve been wanting to add one for a little while so it’s been an interesting exercise. It’s my first A&O notebook and the paper density is so much higher than what I’m used to in other notebooks and planners.
- Craft Journal: Migoals A5 Notes Journal with incredible sticker from Madame Zabet’s long ago KS, design currently on a mug. This notebook began as a scribble and note space for when I’ve got a project in my lap, a counter already on my phone and I need to work something out. It’s the only place that any spinning notes are going currently.
- Warcraft notebook: desk dweller of a Notely Cup Notes A5 notebook that came to me with the leather cover from leatherworker Andrew. It’s a nice looking and working notebook for keeping WoW notes and progress tables easily within reach of my keyboard.
- Penpal book: The Quirky Cup Collective lined journal in a discontinued design that I’m keeping notes about my penpal letters in. Summaries of who I wrote to, when, anything else I enclosed or sent and what has been sent to me. The intention is that I avoid sending people the same things twice or sending back something they’ve sent me. This wasn’t a planned journal so much as something I started doing in 2024 and it makes sense to me.
It’s certainly a stack, I don’t use each planner every day, sometimes not even every week. They do have a purpose and are playing a small part in spending slightly less time on my computer or phone.
